Why this site exists
Most trainers tell you a hold was “wrong.” This one tells you it cost exactly 0.1484 coins per bet — because that number is knowable, and knowing it is how you actually improve.
What it is
Video Poker Pal is a strategy trainer and math simulator built around an exact solver: deal practice hands, choose your holds (keyboard or tap), and get graded against the mathematically best play with the precise EV cost of every mistake. It teaches by chart line, drills your weak spots, and includes a hand analyzer that ranks all 32 holds of any hand. The core loop is free, with no ads and no signup needed.
What it is not
Not gambling. There is no real-money play, no wagering, and no prizes here — the on-screen credits are a practice counter with no value. Video poker in real casinos has a negative expected return on most paytables even with perfect play; this site teaches the math, not a way around it. Intended for adults 18+.
Who built it
One engineer with a solver, a stubborn streak about verifiable numbers, and some published research to show for it — see the methodology and the Double Bonus study. Questions, corrections, or a hand you think we got wrong: [email protected].
